"June" waiting in China
When I saw this post on this blog, I knew I had to share it. She needs a family. Could you be the Mommy she so badly wants? Could you make her wish come true?
While in China I met a 13 year old girl. I will call her June.
Because she had a birthday while we were there. Unfortunately we did not know that. A June girl.
I actually wonder if she even knew it was her birthday. Something tells me they do not tell the kids, hey today is YOUR day!
Because she turned 13, it means she only has ONE YEAR left to find a family. Or she loses her chance, forever. At 14 they are to old.
So what becomes of her? We really do not know.
Here is what I know about June.
She is beautiful and her smile lights up her face.
She watches out for the little ones. One day she was upstairs with us and we were trying to get the kids downstairs. One of the little ones needs a walker, and we did not know where it was. We did not have to say a word, June was on it and ran off to help her little friend.
She attends school so we were not with her as much as some of the other kids. We know she can count in English and writes well.
She has palsey of the left limbs. But it did not seem to affect her.
Her favorite color is yellow.
And she wants a family. She told us this.
Because she only has ONE YEAR left, she needs her family to step up NOW.
It COULD be done.
So she might not be what you or I would typically think of when we think of adoption.
She is 13. she has lived in an orphanage her entire life. There will be issues to work through.
Though we did NOT see this side of her, she MIGHT be like any teenage girl.
MOUTHY & MOODY!
Or she might not, because she might just look at life a bit differently.
Regardless of any of that, she wants a family. She DESERVES a family, doesn't she?
She needs a daddy to tell her she is beautiful before she starts looking at boys.
She needs a mommy to take her shopping, fix her hair, talk to her about life.
She needs to hear about Jesus...
Please help me spread the word about June. WE can be her voice. WE can lift her up in prayer till she is home. WE could change her world.
Bringing June home is totally doable. She has a year. God has a family for this precious girl. Is it your family?
Please share and help June find her home!

This and That
So, bear with me {Ashton} as I just give you a few "announcements" then we shall get back to advocating. K? kay.
So, I am sure you noticed that SWW looks a bit different. Let us know what you think about the new blog design...Yay or Nay? Should we have stuck with the old design or do you like the little bit of color we threw in? Not that it is that important but we still would like to know :)
Another note, We have added a button to our side bar. This is an awesome way to share SWW with the world. And it is an easy way to "do your part" You never know if by sharing our button on your blog someone sees our website and finds their child! One less orphan and one more forever family! It can change lives. Just copy and paste the bottom part and put it in an HTML side on your sidebar and wahhlahhh. You got it!
OK we are having technical difficulties with the button! We will let you know as soon as it as fixed! Sorry Guys!
If we get 50 followers, we will have a surprise. Some giveaway, drawing, whatever it may be. {Give ideas on that too! Blog design, tshirt-ish, just random gift, etc etc}

Could you be her Family?
Guo Shao Qin.
Ah Qin, as we affectionately call her, is a young girl from an orphanage that we have been fostering now for 8 months. She was born in 2001 so is coming up 10 years of age. However, this is not her developmental age in many respects.
Her stature is that of a 5 or 6 year old at best. She is not as tall as my own 7 year old daughter. She is healthy and fit, with no known physical problems other than a condition called Brachydactyly, which is a shortening of fingers and toes. It is only a physical symptom and most people do not notice it on her, which on Ah Qin means a slightly shorter than normal finger length most prominent on her little fingers. We got her glasses not long after arriving with us. She was assessed as having both short and long sightedness and amblyopia. However, with glasses she seems to be seeing well and no longer looking sideways while reading.
Her manner is very sweet and she does not have any behavior problems. She is very compliant and obedient given the right direction. She responds well to guidance and discipline and can learn and fit into a family situation.
In saying this, she does have some undiagnosed cognitive learning issues. I have found her to be intelligent but she has difficulty with verbal communication. She is improving the longer she is with us, and her desire to learn is normal. At this stage we are not engaging her in English as we do not know her future and do not want to hinder her development for a future in China. However, she has picked up a lot of English just by listening to us, even though we talk to her in Chinese. So, her learning capacity is there, but a combination of poor early childhood education and stimulation coupled with some cognitive issues does provide her with a learning barrier.
We have employed a tutor to work with her and she is showing signs of learning albeit painfully slow at times. But she is learning.
She actually shows good understanding of processes and systems and will learn very well by observing. She will watch me doing cleaning in the home and she will have already figured out that I need the broom or a rubbish bag or a cloth, without me asking. So, her interpretive and sequential ability is quite intact (on the whole).
She is a very sweet young girl who shows and needs a lot of affection and love. She is very easy to care for fits well into a family situation. She longs for a family, and to be loved and cared for. She so desperately wants to call us mum and dad, but we have not allowed this as I will not be her long term parents. We have not given her an English name, preferring to leave this to an adoptive family to do.
She would benefit greatly by the right schooling and assessments and I believe (and I am not an expert) she could learn to live an independent life given the right support and guidance. She could easily fit into a class with 5 year olds and start right from the beginning because of her physical stature. There is no need to look on her as a 10 year old, as even emotionally she is not at this age.
Here foster mother wrote this about her. What a blessing she will be. How amazing does this sweet girl sound?! She would be a perfect little Princess to add to your family.
Is God calling YOU?

Waiting Kids Dissolutions
Next is Nadia, a very intelligent, healthy, energetic 11 year old girl who was adopted from Ukraine in June 2010.She is a hard worker &enjoys helping. She is very outgoing &will take on any task. She is happy when she is doing something or has someones undivided attention. She enjoys outdoor activities swimming, riding bicycles, soccer, as well as arts& crafts. She can be very sweet & generous. She has few friends as she tends to smother other children with too many words and too much energy. She is very motherly to younger children often picking them up. She is kind to animals. She very much enjoys learning & is happy to do her homework as well as memorize Bible verses for her church group. She is currently in 4th grade at a public school. She likes going to school and church, but occasionally struggles with respect of adults. She was raised from birth in an orphanage with little supervision & will tell you to your face that she can behave when she wants to.

If you would like to know who to contact for more info on these little ones please email me tsw1203@aol.com
